It's important to display the 3 digit File Extension so you know what type of file you are working with. The file can be text, music, video, graphic, etc., and without the extension you won't know. Most new computers are set up to NOT show the File Extension. To display File Extensions: Click 'Start', click 'My Computer', click the 'Tools' drop down menu, click 'Folder Options', click the 'View' tab, and look at the Advanced Settings box.
